Annotation:Madeline suffers brain damage in a bike accident and her husband and his second wife care for Madeline. Would recommend to those who like strong characters with a lot of conflict, intensities and diverse characters, like some Sue Miller novels.

Annotation:A sad, sometimes funny, but ultimately touching story about one girl's journey to discover her sense of worth. The first person story is truly an emotional investment as the reader follows Dolores from childhood to adulthood, and through every traumatic stop in-between. Recommend to readers who enjoy getting deeply invested in characters and/or stories that are sad, but ultimately inspiring.

Annotation:Following a tragic accident, a young family in upheaval must come to cope with their emotional chaos and make peace with their loss. The characters and story are not edgy or splashy but well developed and very real. Closer in appeal to Anna Quindlen or Anne Tyler, rather than Jodi Picoult or Jane Hamilton.

Annotation:Relationship between a newly-married young woman and her older neighbor (a former Senator's wife). A husband's infidelity and how it is dealt with is one of the central themes. This is a quiet read that focuses on the women's inner lives. Recommended for those who like quieter woman-focused reads, and who have enjoyed Anna Quindlen and Laura Moriarty.

Annotation:Laura Moriarty explores the fragility mother-daughter relationships and how much our life is shaped by the experiences in our past. Pam was raised by a mother who was self-absorbed and who abandoned Pam as a teenager. Now, as a mother, Pam finds herself standing on the outside of her teenage daughter's, Kara, life in the midst of terrible family tragedy. Those who like Jane Hamilton, Jodi Picoult and Alice Sebold

Recommended for those who like emotionally driven and action packed reads.

Annotation: Ex-prison inmate Skip Cuddy, decides to secretively adopt an abandoned baby with help from his imperious 80 year old boss. This low key, character-driven novel explores family relationships and the possibility of redemption. Would recommend this book to those who enjoy well developed characters and domestic fiction like Anne Tyler’s.
